About the role


PLC is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented and compassionate Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations. Reporting directly to the CEO/Executive Director, this exempt position plays a vital role in maintaining employee records, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, supporting benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. This position supervises one full-time HR Coordinator (non-exempt). 


What you'll do

  • Oversee and assist with the recruitment process, including posting jobs, screening applicants, and scheduling interviews 
  • Coordinate and support onboarding for new hires, including processing HR paperwork and system access 
  • Maintain and update personnel files and HRIS records 
  • Respond to routine HR inquiries and provide support to employees regarding HR policies and procedures 
  • Support benefits enrollment, changes, and communications 
  • Track employee leaves of absence and support compliance with applicable laws and policies 
  • Generate standard HR reports and assist with audits 
  • Support employee engagement and training initiatives 
  • Participate in the coordination of employee events and wellness activities 
  • Assist with policy implementation and help ensure compliance with labor laws 
  • Provide general administrative support on HR matters for the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors  
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of human resources experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience) 
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred  
  • Working knowledge of federal and California labor laws 
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required 
  • Experience with HRIS systems preferred  

Salary & Benefits 

  • Salary range: $68,640 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Full-time, exempt position 
  • Hybrid work schedule

    • 403b retirement plan (after 6 months of employment PLC provides a matching contribution equaling 100% of salary deferral up to a maximum of 3-4%, depending on length of employment)
    • Monthly $55 stipend for Wi-Fi and cell phone use
    • Monthly Bilingual Pay Premium upon successful completion of an oral and/or written test ($50 for oral premium and $50 for written premium)
